tajch: Vindšachta
ARCHIVE ENTRY NO. 1712
In the first half of the 18th century, tajchy – artificial water reservoirs – began to be built around Banská Štiavnica to provide energy for mining and ore processing.
Each artwork carries the mark of 300 years of history. Oak wood that once served the water-management tajchy now lives on as a work with its own story.
I apply expert methods to keep historic wood stable, so it retains its structure for generations to come.
Every artwork is an original. I highlight the natural beauty of the material shaped by time and by 18th-century craftsmen.
I connect artworks with research. My goal is to raise awareness of the technical and cultural heritage of Banská Štiavnica.
